Antisera against the Ehrlich Ascites Tumor*
نویسنده
چکیده
Newborn rabbits were made immunologically tolerant to normal C3H mouse tissue and were subsequently immunized with the Ehrlich ascites tumor. Nonpretreated rab bits were also immunized with tumor. In addition, both tolerant and nonpretreated rabbits were given similar injections of normal tissue antigens. It wasfoundthat, in smallamounts, both tolerantand nontolerantanti-Ehrlich ascites tumor sera gave some protection to mice previously given inoculations of tumor. Neither of the antinormal tissue sera nor the normal rabbit serum gave this protection. However, when given in large amounts, the nontolerant antisera (either to Ehrlich ascites tumor or normal tissue) were immediately lethal to the vast majority of mice so treated, and normal rabbit serum or tolerant antinormal tissue serum had little effect of any kind, toxic or protective. On the other hand, the tolerant anti Ehrlich ascites tumor serum had only slight murine toxicity and was able to exert a greater protective effect on mice given inoculations of Ehrlich ascites tumor, by reason of its being able to be safely administered in large amounts.

Antitumor Activity of Prosopis glandulosa Torr. on Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) Tumor Bearing Mice
The antitumor activity of ethanol extract of Prosopis glandulosa Torr. (EPG) was evaluated against Ehrlich ascites carcinoma (EAC) tumor model in Swiss albino mice on dose dependent manner. The activity was assessed using survival time, average increase in body weight, hematological parameters and solid tumor volume. Oral administration of EPG at the dose of 100, 200 and 400 mg/Kg, significantl...

متن کاملEffect of polylysine on the leakage and retention of compounds by Ehrlich ascites tumor cells.
Washed Ehrlich ascites tumor cells were suspended in either a saline or a polylysine saline solution. The cells were centrifuged, and the supernatant above the polylysinet reated or control cells or the cell pellet was studied. Inorganic phosphate, carbohydrate, free amino acids, small peptides, potassium, and adenosine-5'-monophosphate were released from the tumor cells into the supernatant af...
متن کاملEffects of Ehrlich ascites antisera on the biochemical activities of Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells in vitro.
Anl i-tumor sera are now being extensively used in investigations of the activities of neoplasms (e.g. 4-7, 9-13, 15). I t is already known (7), concerning their effects on the biochemical activities of tumors, that Ehrlich ascites carcinoma cells, treated with their antisera in the presence of comp]ement, lose their capacity to respire in the presence of glucose but not in the presence of succ...
متن کاملAntitumor Activity and In Vivo Antioxidant Status of Mucuna Pruriens (Fabaceae) Seeds against Ehrlich Ascites Carcinoma in Swiss Albino Mice
The aim of the present study is to evaluate the antitumor effect and antioxidant role of Mucuna pruriens (Family: Fabaceae) against EAC bearing Swiss albino mice. The effect of methanol extract of Mucuna pruriens (MEMP) on tumor growth and hosts survival time was studied by the following parameters: tu-mor volume, packed cell volume, viable and non-viable cell count and life span of the host. M...
